I picked up the Magicka Collection from Gamersgate today, for $5.99. It sounded like it would be something I would like. It has er..ten games, I think? Activates through Steam.

I want to start playing Skyrim again, but I lost a saved game of like 100 hours. I don't know if I care that much to get back into it.

How did you lose it?

My PS3 gave me a yellow light of death.

After having it for 6-7 years, I didn't think that would happen.
I never bothered to back up my saved games on a USB card.

I do now, however.

you should still be able to transfer the hard drive to a new ps3

Nope. As soon as you put a hard drive into a new PS3, it gets formatted before you can use it.

It just cost me like $120 for Sony to replace my broken PS3 with a certified re-manufactured one. I was asking them all about it, and they said that as soon as a hard drive is plugged in, the system requires a format, regardless of if it's already formatted or not.

So, if I took out my hard drive for some reason, and put it right back in, it would format? I would assume that it would check to see if it's file system is in tact first before, but this is Sony.

I would say "possibly". Or maybe it would only do it if it doesn't recognize that hard drive already.

I'm guessing it's a lame hack to keep people from taking the hard drive out and putting pirated games on it and putting it back in.
