It's not something you can play a long time, at least not for me... but it is something you can revisit a lot, especially with each patch.

They charge $30 now? Fuck that. I paid $7 when it was in beta.

But yeah. Just think of it as virtual legos with some adventure elements. You have to run around collecting blocks of materials, combining them to make other materials, to build shit. You can craft swords and armor so you don't get raped by the zombies and stuff that spawn at night. And, well, yeah. After about 3 hours you basically run out of shit to do. You have the best weapons/armor and have built a "base" for yourself. At that point the only thing to do is to build cool shit, if you're into that (some guy spent, I forget how many hours, building the Mines of Moria, it was fucking ridiculous), but even then you can just put yourself into creative mode (god mode) so you don't have to find certain materials to build stuff.

I played it a bit on the phone, it looked interesting. But none of the blocks "do" anything. It's just building. If there was a special TNT block that you could ignite, or a "wheel" block that you could use to make vehicles would be more interesting.

There is a tnt block that you can ignite

You can mine iron ore, build a furnace, power the furnace with coal to smelt the iron ore into iron ingots and use those to make iron weapons. Etc. There's a lot of fairly neat things you can do.

You an actually make really complex shit using Redstone. Redstone torches power redstone devices, that can be used to move blocks and/or activate usable items (such as TNT, doors, etc.), they also have timers, relays, and the like. Someone made a complete turing machine using redstone shit awhile back.
