Re: BATMAN: Arkham Asylum
I gotta say, Arkham Asylum is a pretty cool game. I doubt I would have ever tried it, if not for my mother getting it for me as a Christmas present. I'm enjoying it, and already 47% done. I'm aiming for 100%, so it'll take some time.

I thought i recommended this to you which eventually caused your mother to get it for you for Christmas. Fuck not having the old forums to back me up on this but it could just be a figment of my imagination caused my substance abuse. Sadly i never played any of the DLC so if anyone has played it let me know how it is.

Re: BATMAN: Arkham Asylum
You know, that's possible also.
My mom was asking me for Christmas ideas, and I usually buy anything I want the minute it's available. These 2 Batman games were never high on my list.
So thank you for posting that they were good as my mom requested something to purchase for me for the giant consumer holiday.
Otherwise I would have never tried them.

Lawful, did you play borderlands? It seems like something you'd enjoy purely based off of the fact that you play(ed) mmo's and like first person shooters. It is definitely worth it, especially since there is probably a cheap GOTY edition and it is a fairly long game.

Then you can either play the game how it was intended, OR what almost everyone does is grind. I fucking hate grinding. I want grinding to stay out of my FPS's. Halo Reach has been on my shitlist for their progression based ranking system. The problem with all this progression unlocking is that because someone can grind for awhile and get enough points the unlock is effectively meaningless and thus stands out less on any gamer. I prefer a system where you have to beat a higher level opponent or you have to do a challenge of equal or greater value to attain what you want unlocked. I fucking hate grinding in a FPS. All those guns end up looking the same and shooting the same shit anyway.the flower princess wrote:

I agree with a lot of that and from what i've read they have really made the weapons much more unique for the sequel.
Then again, some of that information came from IGN and they are the biggest fanboy site ever.

Re: BATMAN: Arkham Asylum
So I'm at a new boss fight. It's against another of those Titans with like 30 other normal guys to fight against...
It's kicking my ass. I've tried 30 times so far and the best I've gotten him to was 50%. I just can't seem to avoid ALL of the hits that are constantly being done against me. Really brutal.

Re: BATMAN: Arkham Asylum
It's really fucking annoying. I'm jumping around and when I go to attack the Titan after blinding him, I get hit from behind ALWAYS, so the titan's able to do a crushing hit before I really daze him. Really fucking gay.

Ok, finally killed the Titan, but there were a TON of normal guys up, and they quickly finished me.

I got Arkham Asylum from Gamer's Gate for $5.99, a year ago, and I still haven't played it because I STILL haven't bought a controller

Re: BATMAN: Arkham Asylum
So I finally beat this fight. Took me nearly 100 attempts, but in my win, I CRUSHED it, finishing with over 50% life left.
On top of that, I also got my 40 point combo during my victory.
The trick (for me at least) was to mostly ignore the big dude. I would blind him, but only attack him if it was safe to do so, jumping in with 1 hit, then jumping out to attack someone else, then back in and out and in and out.
When the big dude finally died, I had already cleared out all of the minions from his chamber by being good at dodging shit.

Re: BATMAN: Arkham Asylum
Ok, poison ivy was REALLY easy. I got through phase 1 on my first attempt, starting the fight with about 1/2 health.
Took 6-7 attempts on phase 2, just because I had to figure out what to do with the adds. Really an easy fight.

I think it comes with the territory of owning this site that it becomes your personal blog eventually. Then you get butthurt/fired/DIAF and it passes on.

Technically, motherface is the "owner". It was just my idea to keep the old site going, but he's the one that fronted the cash for this site as well as earns the COUNTLESS thousands we're giving him via the Amazon link at the bottom (I bet he's up to a whopping $16 by now).
I'm just a moderator / admin to prevent the Khrath thing from happening here. It's kind of a trio of adminship here. motherface, Luturb and myself.
That said, I do find myself posting here a lot more now than I did on the old site. Maybe there's a vested interest in keeping it going, or some shit.

Re: BATMAN: Arkham Asylum
I beat it last night. I'm happy now. Even got "Mano-a-mano" achievement on the 2 Titan boss fight right before the Joker. That was fucking rough, doing that whole fight without batarangs.
But neat. Got my "Big Bang", "Bigger Bang" & "Biggest Bang" achievements as well. Sweet. Now to do the challenges and shit to get 100% complete.

Trying to get through the challenge levels now.
Lawful was right, they're difficult. You need to play flawlessly to get the score required to get golds on them.
