I got a PS3

Post by motherface » Thu Jan 03, 2013 2:03 pm -0500

Got a PS3 for Xmas that included Uncharted 1 & 2 and some other 2 games. Finished Uncharted 1, was lots of fun. Working on 2 now. Having only had a Wii for the past 5 years (and now a Wii U) it is really embarrassing how much better this PS3 game from 2007 looks compared to Wii games from last year. I like Nintendo, but they should have released an upgraded Wii with HDMI and at least 720p support like 2 years ago.

Wii games on the Wii U upscaled to 1080p look fucking awful too.

I love Uncharted. 1 was awesome, 2 was great. 3 was also great.

Pick up Portal 2 if you can. It slightly expands on the story from the mini-game of Portal found in the Orange Box, but you can easily start there as a beginning point.

I wasn't a big fan of Heavy Rain. Portal is more like a modern day Tomb Raider with a good story behind it.

Other games you may like:

L.A. Noire (by Rockstar) is an oldie time cop drama that takes place in LA. You have to solve crimes by investigating and interviewing people. It's an interesting concept, but a little slow for my taste.

Katamari Forever is a really fun game, but not graphically anything. It's just a fun thing to play with when no one's looking. (Your kid would like it).

Ratchet & Clank. There's a few of these games and they're fun. They play similar to a game of Contra or Double Dragon, but they're beautiful. It's like playing in a Pixar movie.
No sig for me.

People also like the Infamous games. It reminds me a little of the XBox title, Hero, where you can decide if you're going to be a good guy or bad guy. It's also like playing Double Dragon with missions.
No sig for me.

Uncharted Series is good.

Metal Gear series is great.

Infamous 1 was pretty fun, though like any sandbox games all the side missions got pretty weary towards the end. I have infamous 2 for my 3.53fw ps3 but haven't played it yet.

God of War is fantastic too.. the rereleased 1&2 in 1080 which looks much better than the original.. I think now you can even get the HD versions of 1,2 & 3 all in one edition.

Ratchet & Clank is a ton of fun too.

All that being said, my ps3 solely gets used for DLNA player for my plex media server these days.

Nice box.

I recently got my Platinum Trophy for Uncharted. Had to beat it twice (once in hard, once in crushing), kill a bunch of guys with every weapon, do lots of head shots and do lots of melee combo attacks. It was fun.

I "started" doing it for Uncharted 2, but haven't had any time to play lately. I would like to get into Black Ops 2 first, just to see it.
No sig for me.

I just picked up the Mass Effect trilogy for PS3. It was pretty cheap for 3 fairly longish games.
